Find answers to common questions about our tyres and services
On average, tyres last 25,000–50,000 km depending on:
Driving style
Road conditions
Tyre brand and quality
Maintenance (e.g., wheel alignment, tyre pressure)
👉 While most experts advise replacing tyres every 5 to 6 years - even if the tread appears fine, the guidelines in Nigeria remain unclear. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has yet to provide a definitive stance on whether the recommended lifespan is 4 or 5 years. One thing is for sure: Tyres are not bananas.
You can find your tyre size on the sidewall of your current tyres. It looks something like 205/55 R16 91V.
205 → tyre width in mm
55 → aspect ratio (height vs width)
R16 → rim diameter in inches 91V → load and speed rating
👉 You can also check your car’s manual, door jamb of the driver, or use our online vehicle tyre size checker.
Replace tyres when:
Tread depth is below 1.6mm (legal limit in most countries).
There are cracks, bulges, or visible damage.
You feel vibrations or loss of grip.
Tyres are over 5 years old, even with good tread.
Some of the most trusted brands in Nigeria are:
Premium Tyres: Michelin Tyres, Bridgestone Tyres, Dunlop Tyres, Pirelli Tyres
Mid-Range Tyres: Ceat Tyres, Maxxis Tyres, Yokohama Tyres, Firestone Tyres
Budget Tyres: Infinity Tyres, Austone Tyres, TeraFlex Tyres
👉 The best choice depends on your car type, driving conditions, and budget.
Cheap tyres (Budget Tyres) can meet minimum legal standards, but Mid-Range Tyres and Premium Tyres usually offer:
Better grip in wet conditions
Shorter braking distances
Longer lifespan
👉 If you drive mostly in the city at low speeds, budget tyres may be fine. For highways or harsh weather, invest in mid-range or premium.
